Leo Skeffington has over a decade in real estate finance and restructuring advisory in the real estate Investment Banking industry. Mr. Skeffington manages commercial finance, global portfolio debt restructuring, and facilitates financing investments for commercial and development real estate projects across the U.S. Since the inception of Bastion Capital Group, Mr. Skeffington has restructured and financed over $600,000,000.00 in commercial real estate for mid-market based real estate companies. Leo holds a Master’s degree from and instructed at University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Further Mr. Skeffington is a PhD candidate with and instructed at the University of Miami, FL.
Leo currently sits on the Des Moines Metro Opera Board of Directors and President of the Des Moines Opera Guild Association. Additionally he is an active pilot enabling him to be in many locations in a short amount of time.
Founder, Managing Director
Walter Githens graduated from Iowa State BS Accounting 1990. He spent six years in public accounting, as well as advising with software systems, Quickbooks ProAdvisor, and vast experience in bookkeeping for many of Bastion Capital clients. Walter has over 16 years payroll service bureau experience in addition to working with his father previously in pay-roll processing. Walter assists our clients in providing detailed statement analysis allowing our clients to readily understand how their business is operating. An avid cyclist for over 20 years, Walter has three grown children and one grandchild.
Prior to joining Bastion Capital Group, Jared Hassman founded the boutique real estate firm Common Area Strategies, worked for The Landau and Heyman Real Estate Group and for General Growth Properties in a variety of leasing and management positions. He oversaw small regional malls, dominant super regional malls as well as strip centers at different times during his tenure working both permanent and temporary, short term deals. The work involved working within a large public REIT as well as working directly for an owner of small, locally owned community centers. He also did work on 3rd party centers. He witnessed the rise of the regional specialty leasing tenant during this time and it is this client he serves on the tenant rep portion of the business. Jared graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in General Studies in 2002 so his knowledge base is very broad.
